4030 missing

Hi,

I recently overahauled a 329 in a 4030. Did complete overhaul, sleeves, pistons, bearings, cut head, redid valves, and new injectors. After starting it it seems to sound ok but smokes (blue), and misses when throttling up quickly. Rechecked the valves and it has new air filters. Can anybody help me? I did not change anything with the timing. Could it possibly be that the pump is weak and with the new injectos not letting them break properly??
 
It sounds like retarded timing.........could be pump related, possible issues with the injection pump advance or delivery valve(if it has one)??

May not hurt to check static timing anyway..........

I would also post on the JD forum too just in case some of those mechanic types don't frequent here unless you already have.
 
I would take it out and work the snot out of it to get those new parts broke in. Vary the load, but put a good load on it. Years ago I rebuilt a 460 IHC diesel that didn't seem to want to run right. After a day pulling a disk in hilly ground , it came out ok.
