OT, 96 GMC PickUp Brake lights and turnsignals

I'm befuddled. Turnsignal on truck works fine until you press the brake then they run at double speed like a bulb is bad. All bulbs and flasher are good but the brake lights are dim. Anybody run into this before?

Sounds like a bad or insufficient ground for the tail lights. Rust, dirt, etc. will cause it.

I would agree. Check your grounds for the brake light or the turn signal. Being a 1996 it could have some wires that are getting thin at the terminals.

also recheck the bulbs. we see it often at the shop, the bulbs seem to work fine but the filaments inside the bulbs are shorted. get a couple new bulbs and try switching them out.

Those tail lamps run in a circuit board which may be bad.

Try a heavy-duty flasher.
