Hi all,I just picked up an 52 8n. It sat for 2 years they said where I picked it up.I have put a rebuild on the carb, new pionts cap wires plugs and replaced the fuel shut off.it was running good other then a small exhaust leak I also cleaned the fuel tank. The problem is when I removed the plug wire harness I hade too removea head bolt to get it off, water was coming out of it so I assume its threaded into the water jacket of the head.Since doing this it runs like its choking out,but stays running could this be from a bad head gaskit,no water in oil or over heating.I did have to reclean the fuel tank though.Any info would be appreciated.Thank you David.Alsowhere is a good place to get replacement parts at a good price.

Im assuming that you put the bolt back in, and that you replaced the water that came out.

On the N series fords a good number of the head bolts go into the water jacket of the engine. Which can cause problems. If your not having a problem with it now don't worry about it if you are a sealer like silicone gasket maker works well to stop a leak

Put some non hardening Permatex on those bolt threads. And tighten to the proper torque to hold the head. It might not hurt to torque all the head bolts in the factory approved order.

Thank you for all the info,I'm not having trouble with the bolt.I did tighten the bolt to factory specs, problem is its running bad.it was running good tell I pulled out the bolt and put it back in.I did a compression test today almost 80 psi on first full stroke. After 4 strokes its at 120+ so going to pull carb back off and check that.It says it has cast sleeves ,are they better then steel or not thanks all love my 8n though.I picked it up for 450 not to bad
