Any Old timers know how to make a rope Cathead for pounding

anyone out there ever homemade a friction cathead for driving 2" well points in search of water. One that was powered by a small gas engine of sorts ? sure could use your expertise in this subject ... JIM

I am building small walking beam for same thing,
still collecting parts .
Just use a tripod and a Capsan or Winch, wrap rope around wench a couple of times Hold tight it will pull weight up then let loose it will crop .

The old time rig builders would weld two(2) car wheels together and remove a rear tire and wheel, place modified wheel on rear axle put in gear and they had a cat head and power unit. Dont try this with postive traction rear end. LOL
