Looking at Toyota skidloader SDK 8 5500 lb, 45 hp diesel machine. Anyone own one or have opinions on one ? what to lookout for on them

No experience with them at all, but my main concern would be availability of parts and service when needed in a hurry. If there is a dealer close by, it may not be an issue.

I know that they have tons of forklifts in this area .Don' tknow if they are served by same dealer network or not . Fork lifts seem to be good units .

Same here. We have a Toyota fork truck at work too. It's about 25 years old and has never given any trouble that I can recall.

I don't know if that relates to their skidloaders or not.

check with a local John Deere dealer. When toyota was selling the skidloaders in the US back in the early 90"s John Deere was the dealer for them. Parts are a $$$$$$$ expensive. Me personally I would stay away from the Toyota. Back in the day they were good machines but not anymore.

we have a SDK-7 it is a great machine and the fork lift dealer can get you any part you need as long as you have a serial # or a older parts guy that was around when they were sold. I think they quit selling them in the U.S in 94 or 95 but they are still built basically the same just a different color. If you have any questions I can answer specifically let me know. If the price is right and it is working get them to let you run it for about 30 min. wide open moving dirt it will let you know if it has problems. My opinion is GREAT MACHINE!!!
