O/T: '96 Grand Voyager A/C pressure switch

I'll be jiggered if I can find the durn thing.

Had to put a new A/C compressor on my father-in-law's van('96 Plymouth Grand Voyager, 3.3 V6, auto). I wanted to jumper the low pressure cut-out switch to kick the compressor on so we can recharge it. Problem is, I have no idea where they hid the blasted thing. Anybody got any suggestions?

Opinions and suggestions are welcome.

Thanks,
Anthony

I just put a new compressor in my 98 and the switch is in back by the firewall - near the alternator.

I'm wondering though why you need to jumper it? Once you pull a vacuum on the system, and then add one 12 ounce can of refrigerant (without the engine even running) - there will be enough pressure in the system to open the switch. I know I didn't have to jumper mine.

Found it, thanks! I don't have the A/C service equipment. My FIL is trying to recharge with the auto parts kit, basically just the refill cans. I don't think that's a good way to do it, but it's his vehicle and that's all he wants to do.

However

The wiring diagram shows it as a 3 wire switch, with 1 ground, 1 5v supply and 1 5v return to the control module. I jumpered the supply to the return, and still nothing. I advised him that he has other issues, and is best off taking it to a shop.

Unfortunately, I think he'll be back in the next few days saying "What else can we try?". I really hope he doesn't want to go the "hotwire and toggle switch" route. That would be foolish. But some people know just enough to be dangerous.

Thanks,
Anthony

There are other switches that can also disconnect the compressor-clutch - one being a temp switch in the evaporator.
