I got my shims for the "C" today from halfway across the country. I got rods 1 and 2 went good, and then it came to rod 3. Nothing would move without a shim, so i slipped a set in. Then (unlike 1 and 2) it still wouldnt move. So i tried two sets, and it still wont move. 3 sets has to be too many shims. What could be causing this????

You did make sure that the bearing tangs were facing each other. Only reason I mention it is the first engine I put together did the same thing. the more rods I torqued down the tighter it got.

Also the number stamp on the rods and caps should be on the same side.

Lance, do you by chance have that on on 180 out. If the rod it turned back wards it will cause that problem. Guess how I know LOL

The cap and rod have to have the same number too,along with what the others said.
