and it aint even over yet, just started,,

I was bushogging my horse pasture, on saturday,, bam it started making all kinds of noises,, I think the stump jumper is benta agin,, oR the shaft on the gear box,,

Ok hook up the spare,,did most of the side field that is up with thistle and oter weeds,, started vibrating something aweful,, I threw a blade,, no problem, go to TSC to get a new set of bolts,, NOT,, middle of the season and NO inventory,, oh well...

yesterday I was mowing my lawn with teh new to me bushhog finish mower,, there a rose a clatter,, I look back and its not mowing,, OK get off look at teh shaft,a nd see bearing balls laying on teh deck,, the bearings disinegrated,,, my bad I never looked at the oil level when I first got it, I didnt see any oil dripping so figured it was ok,, I ASSUMED it had oil,, you know what that means,, well I dont believe it EVER had oil in it because t here is NO trace of oil drip anywhere,, so its off to fing parts,, ALL the bearings are shot,,

yesterday went out to work with teh backhoe, no fuel,, about 5 gals on the ground,, the CAV fuel filter leaking,, at 5+ a gallon man,,

chainsaw lost the screws holding the starter cover on,,, theres more but thats enuff for now,,

the neighbor kid comes over to help his dad fix the haywagon,, the tongue is bent a bit,, he asks how did you break so much, I said by using it,, I guess if you dont use stuff it wont wear out or break,, but all at once,,

I'm selling out and going to live in a condo,, naaaa, life would be boring, have a better day than me ,, at least I have my health, and family haha, pat

That's funny, I had a day like yours last saturday, but much less expensive. My old cub 147 needs rewired as it stalls and you have to smack the side of it to keep it runing. Staled about 6 times on me. Then the entire head came of my weed wacker & the driveshaft flew out. I gathered the stuff and put it back together.

its all in a day's work,i can whrite a book about it.its like the song, i am a man in constant sorrow.
But it could be worse, so grin and bear it.

I thought I was the only one who is going to "Sell Out And Get A Condo". My wife just shakes her head knowing that would last about a day.

Yup,BTDT. The Onan B43 on my 446 Case started knocking. Did get it stopped before it chucked a rod. Found a real nice P 220G. Made 1 round, ignition coil died...

Last week we took a couple of days of vacation to go to the farm and cut the hayfield. Got to the farm Wed. nite, went to get the Ford out of the hay barn, battery was dead and had a flat. No power at the hay barn, so had to get another tractor to pull it out of the hay barn. Get it out and at least we were able to jump start it and drive it to the shop and put it on the charger.

Thurs afternoon, start cutting the hayfield. Horse is colicking. Grass is too thick for the #5, popped the slip clutch and the 46A quit running. I'm going back and forth from hayfield where nothing is going right to sick horse who isn't getting any better either. James went back and got the 70 diesel with the JD 350, it wasn't set up quite right and kept making big clumps of grass instead of having it spread out. James continually has to stop the tractor and mower and clear clogs. He's not a happy camper. It takes over 6 hrs to cut a 7 acre hayfield.

Horse is not any better and at 9:00 I call the vet, load the horse up and head for town. $130 vet bill. Friday I'm not feeling too good and horse is still on the colicky side. Horse and I finally get over it mid-afternoon on Fri.

I spend Sat & Sun walking the hayfield and spreading the clumps so they would cure. Believe me, I know every inch of that hayfield.

Raked on Sunday afternoon, no problems there. Raked again on Monday.

Started baling Mon. afternoon. Rows are too wide for baler & I am walking the hayfield again using a pitchfork to compress the rows so the baler doesn't miss some of the hay.

Bales 1 through 6 tied ok. Bales 7 & 8 only tied on one side. James stops to make some adj. on baler. Bales 9-11 tied ok. Bales 12 & 13 only tied on one side. James figures out the knife on that side isn't cutting. For bales 14 to 31, when the bale is tied, he has to stop tractor & baler, cut twine by hand and reposition the twine feed by hand so next bale will tie.

Finished baling at 5:30 or so. By time we got the hay moved from the field (hay left in the field gets stolen) to the hay barn (that didn't go well either) it was 9:00 pm.

We didn't leave the farm until 10:00 pm. Stopped at the gas station to fill the truck (midnight) and they had shut the pumps down. Got back to Dallas at 1:00 am. We were bushed. Worst 5 days we've ever had at the farm.

Had about the same thing with the brushhog the other day. I was knocking down thistles in the pasture, went to raise it on the 3 point. Only the front came up. The whole back end broke off so the center link wasn't grabbing ahold of much. Got done, there was a copper washer under a hydraulic speed control on the back of the tractor had so much oil foaming out around it it would barely raise due to a lack of high priced hydraulic oil. Don't know about a condo, but those lake lots just east of Knoxville that they've been advertising on the radio sure sound inviting.

Sometimes when it get likes that you just gotta shake your head and smile:
momma used to say
When Satan throws it all at ya at once, it means that salvation is gettin' nearer and he's runnin' stuff to toss

A tall tumbler of Maker's Mark also helps...

Must be the moon phase or something. Last week our 6.5 diesel died, the clutch in the F350 self destructed, the D17 lift quit working, our roof started leaking (temp hurricane repairs), got a summons to face a local city government about our place in Mississippi (also damaged by Katrina) and there's more but that's enough for now. As my dad used to say: "Never mind the mule, load the wagon...."

SEE I knew I wasnt the only one hahah,,,

I try not to sweat the small stuff anymore,, what ever is going to happen will regardless how much I worry about it I guess huh???

I could never last off the farm, that much I know,, just got done hauling 2 loads of 200 bales each out of the barn to another barn..

came home and the neighbor has 3 loads ready to go in the barn, no help,, so I am READY for that shower and fod and kick my feet up.. start aqll over again tommorow,, 2 more loads on my gooseneck, probably buy a new hog and get to mowing,, just got another call for a 12 acre lot to mow so gotta do something,,,

with out trouble we would all be bored,, wouldnt iot be nice for 1 day though hahah,, have a great one pat

You mean there are weeks that aren't like this?! I just assumed that is how things always went! Every once in a while we have a good day and only three or four things go wrong.
