Long 680 powertrain

First step is to try to find a manual. Lots of stuff on a tractor is generic enough that you can tackle it cold- but every tractor's PTO setup is different, and its almost impossible to do it right without a repair manual. I just Googled Long tractor manual, and got 417,000 hits. I'll bet there's a book waiting for you in there somewhere.

BTDT on Long 610, which has similar rear end, unless I'm badly mistaken. I had to remove the drawbar assembly and the lift arms. Then drain transmission oil. Then remove the rear housing that the pto shaft is set in. Don't remember the details after that, but the next steps were obvious. It's not necessary to remove any hydraulics not do you have to jack the tractor up. The housing is a little heavy, but I did it by myself, however get help if possible.
