tractor saw

Does anyone know where a person might find a one arm tractor saw. I seen one at a tractor show this weekend and thought I might like to have one if the price is right.

I'm not sure what a one arm saw is, do you mean a buzz saw (belt driven circular saw)?

I have one that mounts on an Allis WD in SE MN I could sell.

I have a Von Ruden PTO driven chainsaw. I will try to attach a link to a picture of it. You don't want one. They are a man killer, no shear pins or slip clutches, all square shaft drive, awkward to handle, dangerous to run, parts are impossible to find. I saw a little with mine at shows. It doesn't take long to get tired of it.

Roger, thanks for the pic. didn't realize all the stuff you have to go through with it. I heard that they stopped making them in the 40's. Guess I'll stay with the ole chainsaw.

So you have to move the log over after each cut? Boy, that sounds handy. . . Kind of like the old joke about how many it takes to change a light bulb.

Uhhhhhhhh ............. it is a toss up. Move the log or move the tractor. You can make 3 cuts. One straight and two on a 45 degree angle. The saw will swing from side to side. It will also lay flat to cut a tree down. Yeah I know, what happens when the tree starts to fall on the tractor? In the instruction manual it says - when the saw is put in gear it will make a chattering sound. Do not worry this is the U-joints lining up the drive shaft. I'm telling you, when you throw this thing in gear drive line noise is the least of your concerns.

That thing looks like it could use some of that surround-shielding like the round cover on my chop saw. Something that gets pushed back only by the piece being cut. I just look at that thing and I see myself missing a hand!
