Look what pulled up the driveway today!! The engine is stuck, one rear rim and tire is shot, both fronts need replaced. It does have a 4 speed transmission, and a PTO and what looks like the remains of a swinging drawbar. The crankcase has oil in it, and the radiator is holding antifreeze. And its complete. And it was free.

I read somewhere that a 50/50 mix of ATF and acetone works really good, anybody on here know??? Wheres the serial number on this thing???

Looks like an unstyled WC but can't tell for sure. I think the serial number is on the left axle housing just under the brake cover. If I where you I'd do a 50/50 mix of ATF and turpentine, but thats me.

That tractor sure looks like the last one my Dad owned before we moved into town in 1963. Would sure like to find one myself...Where did it come from, I am in west central Ohio...oh, Happy Birthday, a little late...
Later,
Bill

Its from a man named danny jordan of soulthwest central ohio. It was his uncles. And thanks, better late then never :)

Do you remember his tractor?????

Thanks!! It looks better then the first one!!

i've got a gallon of acetone here. I guess i'll try it atleast....

Hey old, it wont let me reply to your post

It is a WC. The WC has a frame, and on the UC the engine is the frame, kinda like the B everyone associates me with.

Or mabey its the other way around :-I

If you go to the Site Comments board and read the post by YTSupport "replies hanging", you can see the reply problem YT had today. before today I could not reply to any posts, but now I can reply to any, but some people still can't.

Lanse,
I thought you liked the color red? Orange is good in a ugly sort of way! LOL.You have a little bit of work ahead of you.
Vito

It is an unstyled WC. A fairly early WC. Before they changed over to elec start. The crank was removable in electric start models. It has spoke wheels too, anothe sign of early models. Probably 1936 or there abouts. About 39 or 39 they startedto change over to solid wheels, electric start, leading up to the styleing change. I would say it is definately worth fixing up. Would love to have one like it,even in that condition.

WC, WD, WD45 and the RC all have a sub frame which the engine sits in. The B, C, and D series has the engine as part of the frame. Its really to bad your so far away from me because that one sure is worth saving big time. Now since I don't know how big a kid you are I'll say this you better have good strong arms to turn that one over

Are these worth more then later-early ones, like the green ones are???

Once more it wont let me respond. Yep, its gonna be GREAT to fix up, im looking foward to getting it over with lol.

Yes Vito, im trying to get used to orange everywhere, but it isnt easy. I think i like red paint, but both colors of tractors are great, like all the rest. Its gonna cost what the others did to fix. The gasoline tank is rusted through (despite the radiator cap over it), one rear rim is shot, as is the tire. And it stuck. No telling what that means. This one is going to sit out for a while until i have money to work on it, as i quit where i worked after the guy became unbearable. I did get a lawntractor to fix up and sell however

sn should be stamped on rear of differential housing as i remember on wc's later tractors i've been told were by brake drum on left side

Hey Lanse,
I'd be jealous of having a good looking WC like that to work on--if I didn't have so many Green & Yellow ones to work on. Good luck with it,
Paul

Naaa, its easy. Allis 1 (the B) has the new block, non painted carb less float, air cleaner without the thing on top, mag with the broken off casting, clean timing cover, crankshaft with the blue seal, the brown rear seal, shiny piston next to 3 grease stained ones, new head, sleeves in the old block, new rocker arms, and any one of 3 valve covers, plus the new painted sheet metal, radiator with the chrome cap, wide front axle, gas tank with crud in there, and the grill with the hold in the bottom for some reason

Allis 2 has the non painted water pump, camaro seat, yellow block with the head, crank with green seal and new bearings, although the engine is back together less rod caps, rod bearings, oil pan and timing and rear covers.

Allis 3 hopefully isnt coming apart to begin with :)

Allis 1 will get done after allis 2 and while allis 3 is soaking. Yall following this??? :)

LOL its a good machine. I really diddnt think she would cause this much stir and drueling around here, lol. First thing my mom said when she saw it is "OH NO!!" With 3 allises, sevral implements and a quarter dozen garden tractors laying around here i dont blame her, lol. I'd like a green and yellow one if i could afford it lol :)

well, a few days ago i saw a rougher one in the photo ads for $1000. I bet he still has it if youre interested :)

LOL theyre all good tractors. Im still getting used to seeing orange on everything around here. Isnt easy. Red one is next. After this one. And the one before it. And the one before that. And the mower. And all the garden tractors. And the garden. Yep, thats it :)

Im about 6 foot 1, but im lightly built. Yep, its gonna be fun. The C turned over easy, even though it diddnt start. Figures :)

WCs are way cool. I had one like that for a long while. Powerful, easy going, and a worker. Stay on the first tractor till done! Jim

Now i can reply to some of the ones i couldnt earlier. I reported it, but they know. Thanks Andy!!

pull the plugs and fill the cyl's with vinegar keep them topped off and try each day to roll it over with the crank or a bar. bout a week or so and it will turn. email is open if you have questions

Naaa. I guess i like it too, LOL :)
With shipping it would be cheaper to take bill in colo up on his offer :)

The man asked me to, when it is done, write a letter and send a picture to the orignal owner's kids and grandkids. Will do.

Second tractor and first tractor get done while this one is soaking. Was yours styled??? What is this thing capable of??? Im using it when its done with-i cant just do a really good job at a tractor and then just look at it. Dings and scratches will add up and give my kids the oppertunity to re-restore it years from now.

Vinegar?? Out of all the things to put in an engine. That i've tried. That stuff left the rust in the form of a black gunk in the gas tank i tried it on. Would that be a problem in the cylenders??

lanse, i would use either the atf, atf and acetone or grab a gallon jug of pb blaster from farm and fleet. fillthe cylinders up and let em soak. put the spark plugs back in so nothing else gets in there. check the level every couple days and keep em topped off. i would also drain that old oil out of there. the old oil will get acidy over time and can eat thru the side of the oil pan. also pulll the valve cover and pour your atf or pb blaster over the valve train and let that soak up good.

Busted my butt on many an acre with one of those, come up to the end turn the wheel and grab a handfull of brake to come around. Ours started real easy when cold but if you stalled her you might as well just walk away and let her cool because she was not going anywhere. Ours did not crank very hard, but she would pull like hell though, spring seat would give the old back a poundin on plowed ground.

It is an unstyled Model WC. The serial number is not on the brake cover- it is on a flat spot just below the top center of the differential- it will start with WC. Mid- 30s model, styled came out in 1938, at SN 74330. Your number would be under that.

Yeah, I remember it being buried to the axle in a wet corner of the field Dad forgot about, one Spring...Don't, however, remember how he got it out, unless one of the neighbors came down with a tractor to pull it out! I was 10 when we moved to town...Champaign County...
Later,
Bill
