clover for fertlizer

I do 5-10 acres a year not much, but something.

Actually I plant oats, with a plowdown mix of alfalfa & clover, as well as turnips or peas. Harvest the oats, bale the straw, let it regrow a bit, and let cattle graze it - this is about when the pastures dry up around here.

So, it's plowdown value is a bit less, but the cattle leave the manure out there, so it all works out.

We have 30 acres of wheat with clover in it. Idea is get on crop off it in the fall and rest is fertilizer. Calves just love the clover bales. We do it more for the added feed than the fertilizer though.
