Fuel saving tip for vehicles and farm equipment

Here"s a little known secret method of using Mother Nature to give your machine a mileage assist.
Mount larger than normal tires on the back and smaller tires on the front.
Then the vehicle will always be rolling downhill.

Call 1-800-522-7448 then you can find the proper tuneup specs, tire sizes, and possibly even the correct inflation pressures. While you are at it why don't you change your handle to "Mr. Thinker Wannabe" I gotta go

Come to think of it, that might go along with putting bigger tires on one side to keep it level going around hills. Sort of like a left handed or right handed mountain goat.

Not if you back down the hill as then your level and once again saving fuel as you don't need brakes!

I put bigger tires on the rear of my John Deere G and it hasn't helped one bit...neither does it help using overdrive in all three forward gears. I love this tractor, it'll really pull, but I'm at my wits end trying to get better fuel economy with it. Is it normal for a John Deere G to use a lot of fuel?

Can you elaborate on your new findings?
Are you thinking that the tractor will be falling forward?

Yes it is normal as compared to some others. I pull a thresher once a year for some local Amish and I have used a A that has had some work done to the motor for pulling (High compression pistons and head shaved, mild carb work etc) and a stock G with just a rebuild on it. The G used alot more fuel than the A did and everyone I know says they will that has had them. Of course they will pull the world down too but... :)

lol, and lets not forget to wax and polish the tractors and machinery especialy combines, that way the air will slide over the metal easier and have less wind resistance increasing mileage

Talked to a guy one time who had to plow many acres with an LA Case- he said they took a 55 gallon drum of gas to the field every morning- when the barrel was empty and tractor about out of gas, they were done for the day. Said they weren't particularly long work days, either.

We did this all the time with our cars--the theory is that it fools the engine into thinking it's going downhill all the time, so it doesn't work as hard and uses less gas...

You didn"t think I was serious? Then again it is surprising how many people "fall" for that old classic.
I was posting jest with a silly ideas similar to the perpetual motion and on board hydrogen generator concepts.

B&D,
Good idea but the increased friction from the small fronts having to make all those extra revolutions would offset the fuel savings UNLESS you had perpetual motion front bearings.

rebuilt the carb last year, this time, and with many others in our club, just plowed, cultivated and planted 30 acres in winter wheat...and my LA got to be the five bottom guy (there were many other plows)...i think, i'm around three gals an hour...could high altitude make a difference to the better??? i would think it would be worse.
