Here's my wife's sour cherries, she has canned 21 pints and has frozen 18 pints. I did the picking and some seeding. The tree was loaded this year. Hal
PS: We will can tomatoes when they're ready.

that's a bunch of picking. I picked couple gallons of the same type Cherry & that was a job.

I canned 15 pints of cherry jam, 4 quarts of cherry pie filling and made a fresh cherry pie with our cherries. We have about 10 trees that produced a ton of cherries. They are all black hart cherries, but we have a few queen anne cherries. We picked about 20 pounds this year. A good year for them, last year we lost all of the cherries due to a late frost.

My wife has made cherry pies, cherry cobblers and
Mount Vernon dessert. If you would like a copy of the MT Vernon recipe I can email it or post it.
She didn't make any cherry jam, but she made strawberry jam. She would eat those Black Heart
cherries until she was sick. We have a tree of sweet cherries too. Hal

The sour variety we have is the Montmorency cherry.
Very productive. Was suppose to be a dwarf tree.
I can't get to the top where there's a lot of cherries. Hal
