Allan how's the hay.

The whole 64 acres averaged 2.14 bales, which just tickles me to no end. The field I'm working on now isn't gonna be as good for sure.

Oh well, just as long as I end up with enough cow-chow when it's all over.

All of a sudden, they are talking rain for tomorrow. Where in the heck did that come from anyway? When I left the house this morning, it was supposed to be high and dry for the next 10 days.

Do those guys really know? :>)

Allan,
Really enjoy the pics and being able to see how the "big boys" harvest hay. What I wouldn"t give for a square flat field. It would be like hay heaven! Here in the upstate of SC we likely got our first and last cutting in early May, with little hope of enough rain for second cutting. This is the third year in a row! Thanks again for the updates!

Looks like that last set of photos contained bales of unrained on hay, the darnedest thing, you are in dry land and yet rain still gets to the hay, I'll bet those critters will enjoy that green stuff with a thatch roof next winter !

Every field I worked in last year, + can't count how many others, even most of the dairy farmers hay fields, most are not cut yet, tops are brown with seed, would still be decent if you could get it in, the weather is just back to it's old tricks again, maybe you'll get 3 days dry, most likely not, humid air from the south is just not letting up, last year was a year to remember and make hay. You can also see where that dry spell in april stunted fields on hills that are well drained, the yield is 1/2 of what it usually is.

Dear old Dad used to say, mow hay when its raining, got to get better. Never worked very well as I remember. Bernie Steffen

Your camera is too good! Can you see the wavey spots in the windrows? Was told years ago at Colorado Hay Days at Sterling CO that one more bat on the reel will get rid of the wavyness in the windrow. Never noticed it so much in heavier hay but the light stuff and good picture taking sure shows up!
