jeff-oh's lawn tractor post just reminded me- there is a huge recall of Dill passenger car valvestems that cracked at the base just as jeff describes. This is the brand used by most retail tire companies. If you are or have experienced slow leaks on tires installed within the past year, this is probably the culprit- and if you've had tires tore up as a result, they are covering those too.

Any defective tractor (the heavier style for tractor s) valve stems. I've had two recently with leak and they came out in two pieces each.
