Engine prices

I would appreciate any input about what I would expect to pay for a complete rebuilt engine for a 1951 M. Also, are there any honest places where one could be bought. I would trade in the present engine as a core deal and would pick up if not too far away from western Indiana. Would appreciate any help with this. Thanks.

Your looking at from $2400 to around $3000 for one. The low price is a short block and the higher one a long block

In this neighborhood you would want to call Mark Woods in Gifford, IL. He has a national reputation for his H and M restorations. He"s not cheap, but he is the best. 217-694-4735. Depending on what part of western IN you are in he might be pretty close. Gifford is about 40 miles west of Attica, IN. Be prepared to wait, Mark usually has a pretty substantial waiting list.

Try nnalert or Steiners, I believe they both have rebuilt blocks and heads.

Just pull out your engine and have a good machine shop rebuild it local ,the overhaul kit is probley less than the shipping bacause the old core probley has to go back at your expense . or you can buy another or maybe 2 M's for what a crate motor is going to cost .

Are you talking about a M Farmall or a M John Deere? Way difference in price and avaibility.

I thought shortblock M was $500 on eBay but I'm not bright enough to figure out how to travel one.
