PTO driven generator

I want to make a PTO driven generator, about 10kw or so. Looking for a source for a quality generator head, preferably American made. anyone been down this road before?

Hey there;
You could try www.northerntool.com
I just checked them out, they show
three heads. You can look for your
self. Lots of luck!!

Not really a "home made" unit, but we have a Winpower pto generator. They can come in very handy at times.

I had the same idea, and looked at Northern,also
but the picture is the same as Harbor Freight"s
so it"s probably chinese.
Anyone have any other ideas?
I bought a 7 KW 220 volt Onan,at a farm auction,
but it"s 3 phase, and I don"tknow what to do
with it.

I've had a Winpower 25/45 kw since new in 1977. Never any repairs on it. Onan has a good rep. Neighbors who bought Pincor as a dairy farm generator were'nt too happy- first time they needed it, it didn't work. Others had poor results with that brand as well.

You can"t save money by rounding up the parts and bolting a generator together. Unless the components are stolen, found abandoned or purchased for scrap metal price per lb.
Just order a pto generator from the discount warehouse of your choice.

Got my 25kw pto from nooutage.com.Get a good brand and dont wast your $.It is a winpower none better my 2 cents. KEN
