model differences

I'm too lazy right now to go over to Smith's page and look it up but as I recall, and I never owned either, the difference was paint and year. The 640s were made through model year 1956 and were painted the familiar Ford colors of gray hood and fenders with a red underbelly. The 1957 models showed up with a red hood and underbelly. Fenders were still gray as I recall.

640 made from 1955 to 1957 and the 641 made from 1958 to 1962. Both had the same engine and a 4 speed tranny. For the most part they are the same tractor other then maybe a few improvements over the years
