I wish i could fix this thing without tearing it all down :-(

well, i guess so. Mag tractor may be nice. Batterys dead on this thing, and she wouldnt start with the B's crank either

Should i plan on rewireing this thing?? Theres some kind of strange circut in front of the seat, it would be cool to have another mag tractor, and the starter doesnt work..

That thing was a ridge runner it looks like, pretty slick. Needs a rewire though, shouldn't be bad on a tractor that simple. Take my advice, keep the distributor and buy an electronic ignition box. Make life simple for yourself. Now all you need is some equipment. Really need a 3 point I think. Now need to post some pics of your WC.

man u need to do something you got to much i mean way to much orange hangin around your place!!

good for you hope this one turns out as great as the last!!

P.S. we need some updates on the other allis!!

the other one has yet to turn out. Poor thing. I put the front of the torque tube in the kubotas bucket when it started to sprinkle out there, and drove slow down to the barn. It came out of the bucket and since it was about to open up, i gunned it back to the garage to try to get frankenstein undercover, which i couldnt do in time. Oh well :-(

Not painting that B has to be the hardest thing i've done in quite a while, just watching it sit there in the garage with a crappy brush job. She'll turn out though!!

You can never have too many tractors, no matter what color. I set out 1 1/2 years ago for an H. 3 allises later im still working on it. Anyday now!!

The man told me he was busy for a week or so, then he'd need my help getting it out of the brush, and he requested me to help with his hay. So expect some in 1 and a half weeks or so!!! Its still not an H, but about the same size. Unstyled, BTW

The B is split in half, the front half is in various peices across the garage, and i had the back of the front clutch bell houseing in the bucket and tipped the bucket back, so i was going backwards rolling the B on the back tires. Never a dull moment :)

Lanse,
With a distributor and a dead battery you will NEVER get it started by cranking. Just another benefit of a mag-NEAT-O

Yes, i know. I am extramally cheap and if i am working on something else and have no money for a new battery it would be a shame for him to just sit there. And it couldnt be any worse then the B will be everytime i use it. Today was the first time i ever tried to crank a tractor, and this thing wasnt very hard at all. Even though it diddnt start :-I

do u need a starter or is the wiring just bad? I have a starter off a old AC C if you need I can have it checked out to make sure it is good

I've always found it amusing when some "mechanics" go to the extra expense of buying heat shrink connectors, and never seal them after the crimp is done!

dont know; it wouldnt work yesterday to start the tractor, and it wouldnt work for me either

Remember to never push on a crank, only pull and do the pull with open grip so if backfires will pull crank out of your hand without breaking your arm. And crank with a 1/4 turn at a time, do not try for a 1/2 turn as that will put you in the push position on the crank. And those distributors were not marked as to AC, IHC or any other make tractor they would mount on and they were to replace a mag on a tractor that could not be gotten running any other way. Seems to be a lot more people now that think they can repair a mag than when the tractors with mags were new. Changed several tractors to distributor from mag to get starting tractors and would never unless it was a show queen go back to a mag.

So what exactially are the benifits of a distributor ignition??? And this distributor has the IHC logo on it

Magneto parts are costly.60.00 for a coil.points, condenser 20.00 each 2 caps on a Wico C 30.00 each.Distributor can put out a much stronger spark.Magnetos were a must on early tractors,no batteries ,starters or lights.Hand cranking is dangerous.Model T Ford came out in 1908,never got electric starter until last 2 years of production.1926 27.So many people got broken arms cranking the T it was called Model T arm.Kettering invented the electric starter after his friend was killed from a crank kick back.Any one who has had a little B&S engine kick back while rope starting knows how much it hurts.
