how does one go about finding the history of a tractor ?? i have a farmall BN that i rebuilt and was now wondering where it came from, any pointers!!! JIM

Unfortunately, tractors are not normally titled, so they don't leave a paper trail like a car or truck. If you know the last owner, or even neighbors of the last owner, that might be a good place to start. Or even a repair shop or dealer in the area where the tractor came from.

That sort of info is interesting. I was once the fourth owner of a '48 Dodge farm truck, and when I sold it on an auction the son of the original owner bought it back.

Jim,

Go to "Wisconsin Historical Society" website. Look around and you will find their "IH" dept. They have the old IHC archives.

Tell them what you want to know (give them the serial #).

I did this and found the month and year and place of manufacture of my "H".
