I baled 117 bale with my old 850 chainer today . A flat on the baler was the only thing that slowed me down , jerked a tire off the haybine and was back at it , the old girl acted like a new one . That was about 8 hrs. and my neck is killin me . after runnin out of hay half way through the winter last yr. them bales sure look good . Now I need Allans big wagon to mov`em . 117 trips will make for a long day !

ahh forget that.....

just go get ya a new john deere with air and a loader and a three point bale spear then you will have half that many trips!!!!!

aint i smert? put a lot of thought into that one!!

haha

Very good day indeed. I was working stacking wagons near here today to pay for my allis C's ride home. when the neighbor was taking a break i went over and started talking to him, and he said he was working for who i was, and that he would help him (the neighbor) with his hay. I said i was working for a tractor, and told him about my little collection. He turned to me and said he'd heard about me from who i was working for, and then he proceeded to offer me a Beautiful Unstyled Allis WC thats over on his farm. What should i say??? What COULD i say???

I've seen it once, has fair tires, is complete, and i think someone said it isnt stuck. Pics to follow. Should be delivered in a week or so. Funny thing, i set out to be an IH collector :)

hahaha good for you lanse!!!

I tried to get my son into an allis and he went with IH!!!

durn kids these days!!!!

LOL haha

My friend John just stopped in.

Although not a "screamer" of a year, it is way better than last year was. On a 20-acre field that he got 3 bales off of a year ago, he just took 24 this time around.

I'm like you. Running out of hay is no darned fun! Kinda scared to cut also because of the daily rains. Guess I might just go ahead and gamble tho.

Checked my sickle on the hay yard; guess I'm ready to roll if I just screw up my courage a little and jump on in. :>(

Got my alfalfa up last week. 1.4 tons per acre on this first cut . That's a little less than double the first cut last year. Guess those spring blizzards were worth more than spring rains.
Maybe the 5-18-35 at 100 lbs in March helped a little.

Thanks!!! This one gets to sit out for a while, the C comes first partially because it's gonna be cheaper to fix

Same here. Didn't get started 'till 4pm on the nose with either baler. Finished at 8:15 and I had 113 4x5 rounds and dad and uncle had 800 50lb squares. They had to stop for 'bout 15 mins when a regular buyer stopped to see when we could deliver some but other than that no problems. This field made a whopping 2 tons to the acre! Not at all common but I will take it! Was lucky to get two tons all last year on an acre.

It's been a while since I did much haying, but I did a lot in my younger years with some pretty mediocre equipment. Any day we only fixed one thing would have been considered "a good hay day."

Did better than 100 today too but only small squares.
Made the old WD snort a bit on the hills.
First time for the kid to stack a wagon, didn't do too bad for a rookie. They all stayed on during the trip home.

Good for you!!!
I just finally cut my 1st 5 acres today. Dont know what my tonage will be but it shure looks like the best hay this field has ever produced.
Cant wait for the weekend.

Yep I got some baled today also before the rain came in. But I do all my hay on a small scale. I cut for an hour or so then what ever is down then gets baled in 2 or 3 days. I did all of 2.5 bales of hay with my 850 today, did the rest yesterday with a NH271. Some how with my bad knees, back and shoulder I have to take my time doing hay any more but at least it does get done

My old fields haven't been farmed in over 35 years. Lots of shrubs and trees moved in. I take a walk almost every night. I did some light discing this spring and am amazed at the amount of timothy that came back, along with some clover and daisies. There's so much vetch, the fields are tinted purple. Too bad it can't be baled. I'll be releasing quail chicks next week; hopefully they'll find it to their liking.

This is a 20 a. field alfalfa and OG and the most to date had been 105 . The field layed wet all spring and did`nt get fert. this yr. , the cows put some natural fert. on it last fall for a few weeks .

I just picked up a 1941 wc allis for 300$Cleaned points and put in a carb kit and dont she tick em off nice. One pull on the crank,no choke and shes off. Hoss

I got about 400 squares baled yesterday and am doing another 400ish today to finish up 10 acres. 1/2 the field is timothy and WOW...My 4020 and 14ft JD1600 had a struggle to put it all down.. Had to open the rollers up to get the volume through.

Had 650 on this 10 ac last year, should be 800 or little better this year...Of course I am much later with 1sst cutting...
