'scuse me for bringing this back up; here's how I've started these old tractors......or the lady at Wal-mart with a dead battery, etc. About 20 years ago, the local salvage yard bought thousands of ft. of welding cable........ it's either 2-ought or 4-ought........ and sold it for about 50 cents per ft. I made up 3 sets of jumper cables, using the best booster cable clamps I could find, either 400 or 600 amp. Made one set with welding cable connectors on one end and put the matching ends on my pick-up, going to the battery with some GOOD cable lugs. Don't have to raise the hood to use 'em and you only have 2 clamps to hook up, instead of 4; no telling how many times it's been used and with a 1050 amp battery in the truck, it's never failed to start anything that could be started......
