I"m looking for a Douglas Touring 215-65-R15 blackwall. I was told by Wal-Mart they been discontinued but it"s not been that long since I bought these tires. Been to google and can"t find any info, even Kelly tire site,I think that"s who makes them gives no info. Called several tire places,no help. Is there any kind of locator on the web I might be able to find one. Even a good used tire will be ok. There"s got to be one somewhere in this country.

i beleive those were made by Cooper for Walmart- try Merchant's or PEP boys, their private label tires are Coopers also. Sidewall treatment may be a bit different, but internally and deminsonally should be the same w/ similar tread pattern

Thanks jose, I went to the Cooper site and no mention of Douglas tires, sent them an e-mail anyway. I wonder why Douglas tire is such a big secret.

keep an eye on ebay, there a couple Douglas tires on there right now, although not your size some might show up.

I read several years ago that there are 213 brands of tires in the U.S. and less than a dozen manufacturers make them all.

BTW, you might try a few more Walmart stores. I had Sam's Club try to pull a switch on me once by claiming a particular tire had been discontinued.

One Sunday, I priced a set of tires at Sam's Club, then when I went back on Wednesday to buy them, I was told that tire had been discontinued and it's replacement just happened to be about $20 per tire more. The guy told me the tires I wanted had all been shipped back to the distributor, and made a big sales pitch for the higher priced ones. I argued. He finally said he'd go back to the warehouse and see if there were any that hadn't been shipped.

While he was doing that, I went back in the store and found 7 of the ones I wanted right on the tire rack in the store.

The moral of this is, if one Walmart tells you a particular tire has been discontinued, another Walmart may have a dozen in stock.

Douglas tires are made on contract with Walmart and they can be bought only from their stores or Sams Club. No need to bother with Kelly, they can't sell them to you. Other than that I would follow the other advice here.

Go to the site for National Tire and Rim Manufacturer's assoc (NTRMA) and they have a "who makes it and where" based on the DOT code. Or call a local dealer and see if they have the book by the same name that deciphers the plant codes. Probably won't find a Douglas, but likely to find the same tire under a different private label.

I e-mailed Wal-Mart a few minutes ago asked them to find one. There's got to be one out there. I got the 800 number too, will call them in the morning.

It's just Wal-Mart's private brand for tires. That means that no other company will sell them. Cooper may or may not admit they make them, but they won't be able to help you much more than that. Look in the store to see if they have any on the shelves and racks.

Other option is to check at another store or just go with a different tire.

About the name on tires, if you buy a container full they will put YOUR Name on the sidewall. Yes the Douglas name is owned by wally world.
