need help id ing old IH

I would like to know if there is a serial number that I can use to help check the year and model of my old IH.

Sure there is, but it's location will vary according to the model.

If you can post a photo, most likely someone can tell you what you have, and where to look for the serial #.

For a couple of examples, A's and B's have the information plate riveted to the LH seat support. Many other models have an ID plate on the LH side of the flywheel housing.

If serial number isn't missing from the tractor & you can find it (like a Super C would have a tag under the seat, on the side of the support), then you can click on "Serial Numbers" under "Research & Info" over to the left here & go from there.

A serial number would certainly help, but they were in different places on different models. Any chance you can put a picture here or in Tractor Photos. With more information lots of people will help.
