10 ply tractor tires....

Need a set of tire for the rear of my IH 856. Been looking at the 10 ply at Nebraska Tire for $290.00. I use the tractor for general use from some field work to mowing and spraying. No heavy 3 point loads. Has anyone bought these tires and how are they. I don't want to spend a lot on money. I have bought a lot of 10 ply P.U. tires from them and had real good luck. I'm not too picky about tires, if it is black and round it will work. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks, Dan Swanson

I bought a set of import 15.5 - 38's for my 560...they were 10 ply...$300 each...seem ok ....did some plowing/discing and haying so far...I loaded em up....time will tell if I get another set..

For that price I would buy them. My dad usually runs 6 ply Firestone Field and Road. We have a 684, 756, and a 986 all with fluid in the tires. My brother just bought a 1256 and that has 8 ply on the rear. We have alot of hilly land and bad dug roads to get to them and we don't usually have to many problems maybe a slice here and there nothing a boot won't fix. So I think that 10 ply will be plenty for you and your 856. I think that my dad pays like $500 for new 18.4-38 but they are Firestones.

Dan, just be aware that not all 10-ply tires are created equal. I've seen 6-ply tires that were much heavier than some 8-ply tires. So keep your eyes open when you do this. The lower price has to come from somewhere. Just be sure it's not in materials. Mike

That is a pretty low price for a 10 ply tire. If they appear to be a good tire you might want to buy them quick. You won't find tires at that price much longer. I just bought two 14.9-28 for my AC in 8 ply for $309 each. I look for rubber prices to skyrocket soon due to fuel prices. Rubber= oil = $$$$$. Just my 2 cents
