Massey FE 35 sieral number?

Hello

I have a Massey FE 35 tractor.

Unfortinatley the ID tag is missing from the dash board, and the only details I have are the following:

Engine number: 302299
Gearbox number: 182 84 omi
Diff number: 183255mi

There is a date stamp on the gearbox of 21.3.57.

Is there anyway I can find out the original sieral number of my tractor?

As the DVLA need to know this so I can register it for the road.

Also is the FE any rarer that the MF's? Or are they more or less sort after?

Kind regards

James

I have an FE35 also. Mine has the serial number stamped on the left side of the transmission. Yes, I think they must be rare as hen"s teeth. But I"ve had mine for about ten years and am very pleased with it.

Hello

Thank you for your reply. I will have a look at the gearbox later and see if I can find any more numbers. Can you tell me any more about fe35s as I thought mine was an mf35 as its painted grey/red but now the paint is flaking off its gold underneath. I also read that only the FE's came with dual brakes on the rear which is what mine has. Why would someone paint it red? Is there any advantage to an MF rather than an FE?

Kind regards

James

I had a look at the side of the gearbox and all I could see what 182840 mi I have been told this is just the casting block?

Regards

When I bought mine from a shady dealer (found out too late of course) I was pretty ignorant of the various models. All I knew at the time was it was similar to the one my daddy had when I was a child. Mine has an English Standard gasoline engine. I think the engine is the only real difference between the European and US models. The advantage would be to NOT have the FE. If the engine ever blows in mine I suppose it will be junked. (Parts availabilty) Dual Brakes? I guess you mean left and right?? Or are you asking something else? TDF

What country are you from. Here in the USA there is no reqistering for road use. The FE ment made in England while the TO ment made overseas as in the USA so about all in the USA are TO. The MF is a later tractor and I do not know if they were made here in the USA or just England or somewere else.

From what I understand, the English Standard engine parts are just as available as the US Continental parts. Might take longer to get them. If you're worried about yours, it would be a good idea to replace the governor and timing chain before they disintegrate. (They don't last forever.) Causes expensive secondary damage.
