john deere 60 governor question

on the governor on my 60 there is a plug that is metal and leaks oil a little bit. it is not the one in the bearing cover. it is above the back of the flywheel cover and is about the size of a half dollar. i can get my fingernails under it and pull it out a little.i cant find mention of it in my parts book and have no idea what it is. is there a seal or gasket that is supposed to go behind it? any help would be appreciated. it dosent leak much but it is enough to be annoying.thanks, keith

It's just a frost plug. It plugs the hole for the gear and shaft that connects the camshaft to the hyd. pump.

That sounds like the shaft for the hyd. pump idler gear. It has an o-ring on it. You have to pull the hyd. pump off then remove a lock pin then the shaft will come out. Be careful not to drop the thrust washers down into the case.
