How much Bio-Diesel is too much?

Got a new tractor, manual says don't use diesel with more than 5% Bio Diesel. The only thing I have access to is 11%. Any suggestions?

You might be better off hunting up some straight diesel or 5% biodiesel. If you have any pump, injection, performance or fuel problems in the warranty period, kiss the warranty goodbye. The manufacturer said no more than 5% for a reason.

If you are going to use bio-diesel then read internet forums on it. I know that if bio-diesel is sitting in a tank for a period of time say 2-3 weeks the acids in it corrode the seals in the injector pump. My Deere manual also indicates only 5% bio-diesel.

they have some fuel stablizers that should combat your problem

I agree to not going more than 5% biodiesel if that is what tractor builder recommends.

How about having your bulk dealer pump 50% diesel and 50% biodiesel in your bulk tank to get the concentration down to 5 or 5-1/2% ??

Friend of my boys father, told him that he bought his first diesel this year. He runs 100% bio that he makes. Runs it in his truck, tractor and combine. My boy has got the itch to make some for his truck. I tell him fuel pumps are to expensive for me to experiment with.

Should have bought a New Holland...

Personally, I think it's a "crock" that you can't run over 5% biodiesel in your's. Probably a "CYA" thing by the manufacturer to cover them from the nuts running raw WVO.

From most reputable reports I've seen, REAL biodiesel is BETTER for fuel injection systems, engines, and the environment than the low sulfur dino diesel we're stuck with today.
New Holland 100 biodiesel

It"s not the acids in the biodiesel and it doesn"t corrode seals but it will eat rubbber up and peel paint that is methyl esters nature. I make 90,000 gallons of it a day. Don

Kind of curious about coupling the front aux. hydraulics. I have a heck of a time connecting. Even gone so far as loosen the fitting to bleed off pressure. Tried the method in the manual. Or don"t you have the tractor yet? I found too many bolts and screws loose the first few months of use. Little leaks here and there. They were all easily fixed, just annoying. The year I got mine there was a lot of orders for them and I had to wait 2 or 3 months for it. Couldn"t find one on a lot with the stuff I wanted on it. To Gus:
I don't have one yet. I just ordered it. I could not find one to look at. I finally found a couple of beat up ones on a rental lot. I think they are too small for the construction dealers to stock and the Ag dealers don't stock them because they are not farm tractors. The dealer that ordered mine said that most of them were sold to the rental people. One of the shocks I got in the total bill was a heavy equiptment tax because it was painted yellow. Another shock was insurance which was about 3 times the rate of a farm tractor. I would not have insured it if I had paid cash. close to $1000 dollars for 36 months of insurance and $150 document charge, made the 0% interest not so attractive. I am happy to wait to get one that hasn't set out in the weather for six months or more. I may still pay cash and cancell the insurance.
