Out of power

I'm currently on generator. We had a big bad storm go through yesterday about 5:30pm. 68k without power. Just local here south of St Johns had at least one house leveled several damaged may beyond repair. I saw two old barns leveled. Many shed roofs blown off, trees blown over. NWS is trying to determin e if it was a tornado or inline winds.

cent ILL got hit earlier this week ,I ran a generator for 24 hours cost me 75.00 in gas .now looking at a 7000 watt whole house that runs on nat gas . will a 7000 watt handle an elect stove ?

had one but the Mrs demanded a elect one bacause she said the gas left a sticky goo that she had a hard time wiping off the cabinets

Leland,
What size a stove is it. I would probabyly go to TSC and look at the 15kw Guardian generator.
Jim

Will call you next week to swap weights for mower and trimmer, it will be here Monday, finally

Jim

The Amish got hit not to far from me in Indiana . My son-in-law works for one of`em and he said everyplace that had house damage there was 30 or 40 people there putting it back together at daylight . No waitin around for the insurance man or a gov. check just fix it .

It will for sure run one burner. The stove wiring is sized to run everything at once, all burners and oven. Two years ago,an ice storm took out power for 3 days. Have a 5000 watt gasoline fired generator and it ran a burner fine. We shut everything else off other than a few lights and TV when we cooked. We did not attempt the oven however. I need to amp probe it some time to see if it would pull it.

Uh, sorry to say, but that"s from her cooking not from the gas. Natural gas and Propane don"t leave any "goo".

Should have hit you up for a generator (LOL) , I know where there is an old PTO driven one but finding something to run it would have been rather diffcult unless you leave the keys in everything . And just call and leave a message at home the day before so I can be around thanks .

That's Michigan, in case you wondered. Came thru thare about an hour before it hit. My best wishes to those who suffered losses.

You don"t need the 1.73. Ohms law is volts x amps =power. 230v x 20a=4600watts. 1.73 is used for 3 phase ex. 120 x 1.73=208 277 x1.73 = 480. 7.2kv x 1.73= 12,470v common line voltage for electric utilities. A 7k watt gen. should run an oven, but with line loss and other things running a 10k would be better.

John is right on the goo. We've either had propane or natural gas for 50 years of the 55 we've been married. It is very clean unless you don't cover the pans and grease gets on the gas range and cabinets. Hal

Sorry, yes this is Mich. Got power back about 1:00pm. Makes about 18hr without power. My gen is a 6500 watt. It will run the fridge, freezer, a few lights and the well comfortably and if I unplug the fridge it will run the waterheater if need be.

Cattle sure knew the power was off yesterday. They started working the fence. They didn't like it when I hooked the fencer up to the gen. ZAP!
