She got my attention at "El Camino".But Flow Masters to boot, doesn't get much better.

GREAT JOB DAD!!!!! Obviously pickin' up on your good traits.

if i said i wanted a new truck for my birthday could i get that? hahahaha

looks like your raising her right! and man you got me at El camino and then flowmasters to... man i wish i was 17... AGAIN!!!!!!!!!

Had my share of El Caminos. Had to run something back then, and the best we had were Thrush, and they really choked out the big block HP. Technologies have come a long way since then.

Congratulations, smart daughter. Tell her Happy Birthday and have fun. Never let her forget how lucky she is not to have to walk 30 miles back and forth to school, up hill both ways like you did.

You put your 17 year old daughter in a old car without antilock brakes, or airbags? Probably only using single point belts, if using seat belts at all.

Oh how cool it looks. But why when even a cheap POS used car nowaday will at leat have an air bag(s) and antilock.

I was shocked just recently when a young mother had been driving her daddy's old mustang and took the steering column through her chest. Poof! story over

.....4 point harness, 3 of 'em, across the bench seat- pink, of course- and they are ALWAYS used. Used by her freinds when they are in it also.
The ElCo rides on 87 Malibu Police suspension with front and rear sway bars, Bilstein shocks, rear discs from a buick grand national and 245/45-17 goodyears all the way around. As for air bag....nope.
It DOES look cool...and yes it is safe...and YES, she helped me build it because it was what she wanted.

I'd put a roll cage in it if it had more headroom.

Hey - time to call the cops on me. Most of our family vehicles have no air bags - and the ones with anti-lock brakes - got unhooked and are going to stay that way.

Show me one verired study from any reputable source that shows a saftey increase with the use of anti-lock brakes.

I can certainly understand somebody wanting every safefty feature possible for their loved ones. I also understand that just about all the safety equipment is a trade off. One example being the many small kids that have been killed by air bags.

Read the fatality figures from the 1950s/1960s for teenage drivers and compare them to now with all the new gadgets. Not a huge difference. New cars have more safety features - also tend to get driven faster since they are so powerful and handle so well. Much is a trade-off.

I was recently reading some stats. for various states in the U.S. One example is Nebraska.

1982-total deaths from car crashes - 261
2002-total deaths from car crashes - 307
2005-total deaths from car crashes - 276

I suspect not many of those 1982 cars had air-bags or anti-lock brakes. Best safety feature - is common-sense.
