mf 265 front wheels wobble

I own a MF 265. The front wheels wobble in and out, especially at higher speeds. My guess is loose tierods but when I jack it up and wiggle the wheels neither the outer tierod end or the inner rod where it connects to the steering pivot seem very loose. The outer rod end is a little but not much. Could this little bit of slop cause a really noticeable wobble or is there something else I should look at? If that is it I guess I will drill it out and put in the next size bolt or else turn down the next size bolt to fit unless someone warns me otherwise.

Thanks.

do the drop axles move up and down in the tubes? our 175 is in need of some front end work and that will probably be where I start. I'm not sure about other repairs. if yours is like ours, running straight rows will be very difficult. my corn looks like a drunk man planted it.

My 245 was almost undriveable in any of the higher gears. My problem was the power steering ram where it connects to the main part of the tractor. Had that threaded part cut off and a new one welded on--solved my problem. You might take a look at that.

My Fordson MD does the same thing, new everything on the front but very loose in steering box, suspect it"s that, but haven"t got a clue..

Set the toe-in per the real MF Operator Manual and Repair Manual. This is first step and I have seen it clear it completely up. Tom

I have a MF265 that does that sometimes. On mine it just means it needs more power steering oil. The steering on these is full hydrostatic and any air in the system will do this, as the wheels wobble it is just the hyd steering cylinder bouncing on the air.
