wagon running gear

This has bugged me long as I've used this wagon. Does its job okay, but 'bounces' a little too easy and unpredictably. I won't go faster than 13.5mph loaded because it bounces.

Every time the wagon makes any noise, I see this thing whip up and down underneath the box:

Two bolts (one shown) is all that seems to hold this running gear together. Now those must be some solid, hard bolts considering this is a 500bu wagon, but should I tighten those bolts? Do they need a little play in it?

I'm runnin' it that way because I don't know any better. But I want educated! It's a Brent Grain Train wagon.

Actually if you think about it the wagon box and its frame is also holding the running gear together also. Brent boxes and frames are beefed up pretty well also. There has to be some play. But I also see that it does not look very straight. Ask a dealer or if any one else here knows more. Better yet find another brent wagon to compare your wagon to.

Is that the reach?

Mine must be tight cause I sure do not remember anything looking that loose under there.

Mine is a 444 model and never bounes even at 25 mph, what model is this?

I will look sometime today and get back to ya.

those to ends need to be inline and tight. Looks like the bolts have been loose and have be egging out the holes. Get it back in line and tight. I assemble machinery on the side and had two of those in the 700series when I row cropped. Get them back in line and tight.

I don't know what a reach is, but that's where the front half and the back half of the running gear come together.

The reach is what holds the back axle to the front axle and on all the older wagons is adjustable for length.
