1956 Ford 800 Tractor 6 volt, pos. or neg. ground???

Thanks for the reply. Had taken the battery out a few years ago and was pretty sure it was pos. ground. The bat. cables indicated such, just wanted to be sure. Greatly appreciated!

Not really, most 6 volt General Motors products were negative ground. However, G.M.C. trucks were positive ground to further confuse matters. John Deere remained positive ground when they went to 12 volt until they went to alternators and then went negative.

Look to see which low voltage terminal of the coil is connected to the points. If the + terminal of the coil is connected to the points, the system is positive ground. If the - side of the coil is connected to the point the system is negative ground.

Half the cars and trucks built in 1940 were positive ground.Caddilac went positive ground for 1 year. All 6v tractors Ive worked on were positve ground.
