A friend of mine said out deeper in the mid-west its at $540 per ton. Is that truth or fiction? Its at $275 per ton here in the thumb of Michigan right now. If it goes to $500 around here I have a Clark 175C that weighs 40 ton Im taking in. Hate to have to do that because it runs and drives and doesnt smoke...but no buyers. I want $18,000 for it, but I will take $20,000 for scrap.

last week I took a load of short steel down, it was 300 a ton as well,

they had a lot of trucks getting loaded and sending it out as well, so,,, maybe the price is coming down soon??

when i visited my cousin in ohio who scraps a lot he said it was going for 250 a ton. but that was the only price i was told.

#2 Scrap Iron, Marshall MN $175 a Ton. Worthington MN $130. We were as high as $250 a ton in Worthington but had a 4 hour wait to unload. Everyone and their monkey was hauling in and the yard is stacked full.

I don't have much, so I figure with fuel prices, it would be like going and giving it to them.

A scrap yard opened just aroung the corner from where I live a couple of years ago. They were paying .05 a pound yesterday. Since they have opened I have seen D7 cats, lots of internationals, allis chalmers, case, ford and john deere tractors, hay balers, Massey Ferguson payloaders. Unbelievable amount of oil field equipment. Scrap piled so high you can't see the plant. I live in Ok.

Wasn't it fun waiting in line at Marshall and watching the local Highway Patrol going down the line looking for loose wires etc. Make a little money and give it all to state for the fine.lol

Many good usable tractors will be scrapped because of this and the chinese will send new one as fast as they can build them. The are plenty of dummies willing to scrap a 3000 buck tractor for 200 bucks.I have seen brand new steel stock laying in a scrap yard years ago that would have brought much more money if sold the proper way.I bought all I could afford but most of it is gone now.Best part of all the cash you get for the scrap is near worthless when you spend it.

I was told by a dealer that China stopped buying scrape till they get their earthquake problems sorted out.
