Pulling a Tow behind mower

Hello Folks; I have noticed that Tow behind mowers like the Swisher advertise pulling the mower with a ATV or a Lawn tractor. Any opinions on pulling it with a Farmall "C" to cut a two acre field with tall grass and weeds. Thanks in advance>

Yeah, it can be done. I use one behind a hydrostatic garden tractor. Advantage here is that I can adjust speed to keep from over lugging the pull behind. Often mow with tractor, and pullbehind in operation at the same time. with a fram tractor, you'll have to go awful slow to keep from overloading towbehind. I run mower as high as I can, to allow trash to be thrown out behind. Mowed about 60 acres of hayland that way for several years.... Slow going! Suggest you find a used brushhog or possibly sicklebar, as long as you have a real tractor

heres a pic of a swisher behind my cub, with the woods 59 belly mower, plus the swisher, i can take just about 10 feet of grass with one pass. i made an extendable swiging drawbar so i can run the swisher way off to the side for mowing steep ditches.

If you intend to use it with the Farmall"C" I would get a pto driven rotary cutter or a sickle bar mowing machine. I'm sure what you have in mind would work too.

my in-laws have one of those and the pivot on the front of the mover frame keeps breaking off the place he bought it from welded it the first time (tried to weld) that lasted a few cuts of a 2 acre field then he asked me to look at it I put a piece of angle iron on the front then welded the pivot to it then added a piece to reinforce that next time I will make a new pivot the way I think it needed to be made the first time seems kinda week having the draw bar hooked to one side of it. I'm sure it would last longer if he would slow down but he only gets one weekend a month to cut on his property he plans on building his retirement home on.

I bought a walk behind Ransome mower at an auction for $20 cut the drive belts and welded a hitch on the front. It has swivel wheels on the front so it tracks like the Swishers but its about 3 times as heavy built as the Swishers.
