Minneapolis moline BG

I am new to the forum and fairly new to old tractors. I've restored a few old cub cadet garden tractors and now decided to tackle a Minneapolis moline BG. Got everything up and running but I've got a couple of leaks on the hydraulics. One at the cylinder and one at the reservoir where the activation lever goes in . Best I can tell it's an HGK system and there's not much info on this system on the internet, and I've not seen a parts source. I was wondering if anyone had a GOOD detailed diagram of this system, so that I could see if it's repairable or if parts are available for repair. (Maybe it's just an o ring) I've got a repair manual for the tractor but the section on hydraulics leaves a lot to be desired. Thanks

Here are a couple of links to a youtube video for a BF which may be similar

The Moline BF and the Aver R are the same tractor, the Avery just before Moline bought the line and are the 2 row version of the single row BG that stands for Garden with the G. And the BG are scarce, Might find better info by looking for a BF or older Avery R.

Welcome to YT forums. The knowledge found here is about as good as you can find. Nice find of a pretty rare tractor. Most bearings abd seals were made to standard
sizes. (many of them metric but sold with 4 digit decimal fraction sizes) numbers on seals and bearings do cross to modern numbers. Orings are also pretty common.
Companies like Motion Industries, and Kaman Bearing are sources I recommend. Jim

It is Minneapolis-Moline's 'Uni-matic' hydraulic system.

The leak where the control lever goes on the shaft is an o-ring. But you have to take the lever off, and then take the cover off the
opposite side of the tank and pull the lever out that way. Then change the 0-ring and reassemble. The plate where the hoses come out is
sealed to the tank cover with o-rings that have a rectangular cross section. I don't have any luck with the replacement o-rings White
offers, but a regular round o-ring from NAPA that fits the groove seems to work fine.

You don't say where the leak is at your cylinder. If it is the piston rod, I think a new seal is available. be sure your rod itself has a
good finish on it. The best seal in the world won't help if your rod is rusty or pitted. I had to have a new rod made and fitted to my
cylinder at a hydraulic shop.

Welters Farm Supply in Verona MO. is a good place for parts. They helped be with hydraulic parts for My BG.

Thanks a lot! I was thinking the plate would have to come off the reservoir but wasn't sure what can of worms I'd get into. The cylinder is indeed leaking by the piston.best I can tell the piston is in good shape. I'll extend it out all the way and inspect it a little better tomorrow. I'll check and see from weltons what kits are available and go from there. I appreciate it!!

For those who do not know, this is what a BG looks like

I appreciate the feedback. I may have gotten sidetracked and forgot about the post, and may have reposted something similar. I was able to order the seal at the reservoir and kit for the cylinder (piece by piece) at welters. Are you saying I will HAVE to remove the plate with the hoses or can I leave it attached to the access cover? Thanks and sorry for reposting
