Cool Gehl 1160 Mounted Merger Video....

I got another handful of fresh VHS tapes from the Gehl collection & opted to post a neat one first.... as I just couldn't resist. Always thought this was a cool idea for an attachment & recall seeing them new at Farm Progress days & at work in the fields around here. They disappeared once the pull type mergers & V rakes got bigger.

Oh.... can anyone put a model to that Deere tractor in the vid? I can't get the hood decal any clearer than what it is. Is it a 4840 or a 4450 or ?????

The 2wd tractor is a 4850.
It can be only a 46 or 4850 with the larger hood chamfered at the bottom, and the numbers looks more like a 8 to me.

The mfwd tractor is a 4650: small muffler compared to the barrel size muffler an 4850 would have.

The 4650 was rated 165.52 HP at Nebraska. Which is pretty good. There's a MFWD White 2-135, which was rated at 138.03 HP coming up that seems to handle the merger & a 1060 chopper with little issue. That hay may have been a bit dryer or the cut was set longer.

The NH towed inverters were popular here briefly, I remember when they arrived on the scene.
