930 Disking Puzzle

A friend was doing some disking for me back about 1980 with his 4020 and 14 foot heavy disk. We were curious how my 930 would handle the same load. Ground was really wet and I had no hydraulic control to lift the disk as it had JD couplers. Plus the 4020 had twice as much rubber on the ground. The 930 pulled it but spinning its wheels in the wet ground. With dual 18.4x34s I think it would have handled it ok.

Nice picture. A 930 should do anything a 4020 will do. Dad bought a 930 Jan of 1970. It was a work horse. RB

At 85 hp the 930 was rated at ten less than the 4020 but the 930 developed that power at a lower rpm.

And the Case had about 15% greater displacement. We al know that there is no replacement for displacement, at least so far as tractors go.

No, the John Deere was a 404 if my memory is right. Case 930 had the 401.

I think the replacement is called a turbo.
