Picked some corn yesterday

Finally got to pick some ear corn this
year. After fixing the husking roller the
pucker worked great. This first pic has my
55 400d, 50s vintage 1PR case picker, and
the running gear is also case.

Thus is a Minnesota 150 box on a Minnesota heavy 7 running gear.

I picked up a couple silage boxes to store it in, figured it would be easy to grind out of these.

Also finished up one of the feed tanks o got for feed. This one has sow feed in it.

The inside has a light switch to turn on the auger. Works good so far, but I may need to put something in the tank to break the feed loose, it likes to bridge some.
 
Nice pics. I got wore out and didnt pick any ear corn this year. Usually pick a wagon or 3 for old times sake. Used to pick 2-4,000 bu into the 2000s.

I do have a wagon of it left from last year if the in-laws want a bag of squirrel corn.

How dry is the corn? You won't be getting air cross flow to help dry like you would in a crib. Around here cribs were seldom more than 4-5 feet across as corn a lot of years came off at more than 20 percent moisture.
 
I was going to mention that, but as cold as we are now I assume he will get this used up before April thaws so it will likely be ok. The lack of airflow is a real concern if the temps are over 50, or even 40 tho!

In the early 80's we got our first cab tractor. We were still picking corn. What a treat that was! AC 6060 with stadium lights. You could see all the way across the field ahead, and the picker and wagon behind. And I didn't get chilled, and then sick. Y'all up there are tougher than I am.
 
I put a bin fan in the rear wall of the wagon to blow air through, I'm hoping that works. I'll post a puc of it tomorrow.
