(quoted from post at 16:16:31 11/26/23) $500 - $700 But I would not

More sentimental value than monetary. Take care of it, restore it a bit and some years down the road you can drive it around and remember Dad.

Wondering if my kids will keep my shop/tools/tractors and remember me. Some days I wonder if they remember me now.

So have you always did what your father told you to do? Don't get in a hurry to sell it, most important thing to do is get it running. Above your pay grade? Search out a tractor club or collector in your area and ask for help, I bet you'll find someone that can mentor you. Clean it up, touch up the paint, take it for a drive whenever you're missing you Dad to help remember him. It's not a high dollar tractor, most likely someone would buy it for the tires and junk or part out the rest of it. If you think you have to sell it, don't be in a hurry to do so. Hunt around for a young kid who wants one and doesn't have much money, sell it to him cheap and tell him about your Dad, how he used it, what he liked/hated about it, tell him if he fixes it up, you want to see it. Who knows, you might have a new friend for life.

Where are you located? Somebody on here
might take it off your hands if it is near them. Also is the rotary mower part of the deal? Looks like there is one attached.

If he suggested or agreed that you sell it
and you don't need it then go ahead and
sell it.
There are a lot of sentimental people here
- keep it, restore it, etc etc.
I inherited my dad's tractor when he
passed.
I used it for a couple of years then sold
it and bought a better one.
I am not sentimental about inanimate
things.
Neither was Dad.
If he could see how I parlayed his tractor
into the one I have now he would be proud
of me.

(quoted from post at 07:18:17 11/27/23) What's an 8N-C? No such animal.

Explanation of -C casting code from ''N'' GURU John Smith...

''1951 Serial number 8N343593 - 8N442034
At serial number 403489 a dust shield was added to the inside of the distributor to help extend the life of the contact points. The engine block cylinder bores were enlarged and the sleeves were changed at serial number 433578 to a cast iron material with a .090" wall thickness (piston size remained the same). The "8N-B" casting mark on the left rear of the block was then changed to "8N-C" and the star on each end of the serial number was changed to a diamond. Because Ford stopped supplying the steel sleeves, many older engines were rebored at overhaul time to use the new cast iron sleeves. The engine oil pan casting was beefed up to give it extra support to resist cracking from the strain of front loaders.''

You buy it. Give him $500. Take it home and keep it. Even if you live in the city,in a subdivision. An 8N is one of the handiest tractors out there.

I bought a late model 8N last week, 12 volts, non-running, dead battery and no one could remember when it last ran. The rear tires were like new, fronts were car tires, the tin was nice/straight. It did have a loader and a rear blade. Since the blade and loader were down (on the dirt floor) it basically needed run before it could be moved.

I paid $1800 (at auction) for it. I worked on it several afternoons and drove it home.

Your tractor looks like a $1000 tractor +/-), non running, to me. If you get it running there are more people (non-mechanics) that can be interested.

Well not everyone has extra money me and mother are struggling to make it month to month the money isn't going to me its going into my Mom and Dad's bank account! Hopefully his VA claim will go through one day buy not likely

What does the -C mean? I have never heard of that designation in regards to an 8N.
