I picked up some spoke wheels for the front of my John Deere BR. Before I order tires, I wan't to be sure of proper size. The overall diameter of the wheel is 17, so I figure 16 tires. However, when I measure bead to bead area, it is only 15.5, so now I'm a bit confused. Everything I read says bead to bead measurement should give me proper size, but it's a half inch short. What am I missing here???

Use a steel tape, or a thin non stretchy cord and take the circumference at the bead seat. Divide this number by 3.14159 and you will have a very close diameter. Jim
