Roosa Master injector pump

I have a JD 4010 & it sat a while for overhaul & other repair. Now no fuel to injectors & pump seals leaking on throttle shaft. Got seal kit including one piece weight basket. Watched video on repair. Pump looked clean inside, not even visible varnish & old weight basket looked good but replaced with one piece. Still no fuel to injectors. What is plugged, sticking or ideas on what the problem is?

Nope, when the plungers are stuck, only way to free them up is a complete tear down and cleaning. Just got an AC pump in for repair with plungers, metering, and delivery valves stuck. It's apart and soaking now to clean the stale fuel/bio diesel residue off everything before re-assembly.

A restricted return to fuel tank will shut that pump down -- some tractors have a one way check valve in thee return pipe that can get plugged. Not that your fuel is that dirty but some plastic/rubber components in the pump can break down over time and send enough "grindings" to the return pipe that it can easily plug that check valve. Try disconnecting the return pipe and let it dribble into a bucket -- then proceed to bleed the injectors. Eventually the pump will need work to replace these deteriorating plastic/rubber parts --- just be aware as you could put a bran new pump on that tractor and with the return plugged you still wont be able to get it running.

What is the best thing to soak parts in to remove any diesel fuel residue?
Thanks for all the advise.

(quoted from post at 17:31:23 12/13/19) Dieseltech, have you found anything that will cut the dried diesel residue that clogs them when they sit like that?

Lacquer paint thinner. Had a MWM Murphy which set up a long time. No fuel to 4 injectors, ran on 2 cylinders and no response to throttle or to SD. Disconnect injector lines, run temporary fuel suction hose in can of lacquer. Spin engine a little and let set. Repeat until fuel at all lines.

I suspect if he reads this his answer will remain the same, NO. Lacquer thinner has basically no lubricity. So the risk of the close tolerance parts in the pump scoring and becoming stuck in their bores is very high. This work around is to tricky for him to recommend this as a trained diesel pump repair technician. If this is done once all the cylinder ports are discharging the lacquer thinner should drained from the pump housing by one of the advance plugs. A tablespoon of ATF should be poured into the housing return fitting port and the pump filled with clean diesel before attempting to rotate it more for restarting. Also a pump that has seen water pass through it may not respond to this treatment.
