I put a few hours on the Cockshutt 50 last week running a small load of oats through the old McCormick hammer mill.

Looks cold to me. I never see others, just the cats. Do you just work by your self? Be careful. Stan

Most of the time its just me. Its no great effort to pail a hundred bushels or so into the hammer mill in an afternoon. Helps keep me warm. :) In fact it was a pretty mild day at just around the thawing point.

Rusty, so that 50 got a 262 or a 273 Buda,My dad bought a lot of Cockshutt machinery, tried out a few tractors, but never bought one,Just curious how wide is the hammer mill, i got a old IHC, it's about a 10 inch wide throat, the trouble is you got to shovel it in, and shovel it away, i can see why the hammers, still look like new in it, and they never been turned!

Got the typical 273 Buda gas engine in this 50. I'd say this hammer mill is about ten inch wide too. The fan blows it all into the bin so no shoveling needed on this one.

Mine must be the forerunner to your's, no blower here, just drops it on the floor, I only got two screens, but it will work, i have demoed , it at the threshing bee, years ago!!!
