Whats the threshing capacity difference between an IH 14

Looking to upgrade from my k2 long back to an axial flow. I know of a very well kept case 1620 but there is also a lot of nice 1440s floating around my area forsale for alittle cheaper.

A fair amount of parts for a 1620 are unique to that and a 1420 plus are no longer available. A 1440 shares a fair amount of parts with a 1460, 1640, and 1660 plus are still being produced. I would go with a 1440 but buy a good one even if you have to pay more upfront. They can be very expensive if they need an extensive rebuild on the rotor among other components.

If mudding plus pushing hills buy a 1460 or 1660. Heavier driveline and more engine power.

Definitely go with the 40 or 60 size as the 20s are getting hard to get parts for. Plus they are short on hp and have a lighter drive line.

I can't speak to the thrashing capacity but if you go with a 1660 either get one with the IH motor or make sure the Cummins has the updated engine oil pump. No one told me and sure enough atabout 2000 hours mine failed. Dealer told me quite common problem.

I would skip the 1420 and 1620 series as they are orphans parts wise to the rest of the models. Any 40 / 44 or 60 / 66 models share the same threshing components and capacities. The notable differences between a xx40 and xx60 models were the grain tank capacities and engine hp. The xx80 / 88 series were different. We had a 2wd 1640 with a conventional rotor. We ran a 1054 corn head along with a 17.5 ft 1020 grain head good with it. With a conventional rotor, I wouldn't want anything larger than a 17.5 ft bean head though. The machine handled it great though as far as weight on flat ground and really muddy conditions.

I run a 20' bean head and 6 row corn head on my 1640. Has the Cummins 5.9 engine...been a great combine.

I believe the 1620 only had a 20 inch diameter rotor. 1440-2366 had a 24 inch rotor. The 80s had a 30 inch, which I believe all the newer CaseIH combines have. If you combine beans, go with the 24 inch rotor or larger. I still run a 1440.

One of my old customers has a 1620 , He bought it used and it had some hours on it . Sofar he has had the rotor out of it and main drive box out and needed some pretty expensive pieces and part and has had the engine out twice now . His looks good on the outside but she has had some acres run thru it . He does not run it hard and pokes along . he thinks he is still running his old John Deere 55 . For him and his 200 of corn and 200 of beans he gets along with it . Myself i would prefer a 1660 . Moore cap. more horse power lot more of them out there . If i was going to buy one . But i am a little different i like the Massey's , the older ones , not s big and bulky can get into the tight fields not as tall . I have had two massey's a 300 then a 410 other then a hand full of bearings and some belts no real issues and lots of parts out there .
