So I sorta followed the instructions I got here to get the auxillary electric fan to work only when needed. On the neighbors 1950 hay hauler. Used a grounding temp switch and a heavy duty relay. Also put a circuit breaker in the hot wire from battery sorta. Someone put a 10SI on this old truck. And what they did was use one of the small steel solenoids that have a sort of strap spot welded to them so that they can be bolted down with two 1/4 bolts. They just ran one heavy gauge wire from the battery post on the alternator to the to the open post on the solenoid. And hooked the heavy wire that used to go to the generator to the other post on the solenoid. Then charged the solenoid with the key switch. Seams to work just fine for years. I just hooked a heavy wire to the same post as the one going to the alternator. That way the fan can't run till the solenoid is charged. Will that work or cause a problem?
