The garage where I served my apprenticeship serviced cars, trucks and tractors so we got some work from the local USAAF airbase and got to work on some US cars which made a change from the more normal Austin and Morris British cars. I remember this make and style which has stuck in my memory for over 60 years. We had to road test the car after a repair so I went along for the ride, not yet having a licence to drive on the public road. Three speed automatic and we had to get up to over 50 mph before it would shift into top!!!! For comparison, an Austin 7 would do 40 mph flat out, eventually, down hill with a tail wind.
