I baled up some grass hay yesterday here in SE PA. I mowed it Sunday, got frost Tuesday morning but hit 78 yesterday. Latest ever Ive tried it. Of course the humidity did come up some but it was dry. Only get about 5 hours of drying a day so it was tedded 3 times. The Ferguson has a newly rebuilt engine and I am still breaking it in with rake duty. Time to clean out the Baler for winter.

For a situation like yours, a Tedder is priceless. I have been trying to learn how to farm for over 40 years. It wasn't until about 15 years ago that I even heard of them...never saw one used nor for sale nor sitting around. I guess trying to hay a winter crop just isn't popular around here.

Once I found about one I bought one and haven't looked back....actually bought a cheap one and wore it out, replacing it with an upgraded one since I realized the importance of having it for a spring baling of winter Rye grass.

In 1989 when we farmed in MD I cut some second crop grass hay at Thanksgiving and raked and baled it the second week of January. It was still very nice even though it had a small snow and a little rain on it. Tom

Good looking machines. Nice windrows.
Looks like you had something to take.
Took 7 or 8 swaths here to even make a square bale windrow, let alone big bale size.
Great job there.
