1969 Ford 3000 tractor clutch throw out bearing

If I understand the codes correctly I have a 1969 Ford 3000 industrial tractor with a 540 PTO and a 6/4 manual reversing transmission.

Here is my conundrum: During an engine rebuild, I needed to change the clutch throw out bearing. In researching the transmission diagrams, this model tractor did not have a 12 inch clutch assembly, an internal return spring, a self greasing assembly and a very large throw out bearing, which is apparently obsolete. The transmission resembles either a 3500, 4000 or 5000 tractor transmission. The throw out bearing is O.D. 4 5/16; I.D. 2 1/4 and 1 5/16 wide and the hub is 4inches long. There has to be a viable solution but, most of my solutions come up a pallet of bricks to short. Would it be possible to change the size of the pressure plate and disc plate from a 12" to a more standard size? That would also come with a throw out bearing that would fit the pressure plate.

The bearing probably has a number stamped into the shield, or race. I would first look the number up on line with just the number and thrust bearing or throwout bearing as a descriptor. If no number or not readable, I would remove the bearing from the carrier and take it to a bearing company like Motion Industries, or Kaman Bearing and have them help. A construction equipment company might be another option. Jim

Since it doesn’t have the greaseable bearing I’d say someone has replaced it with a standard bearing and hub

Couple used one out there.Look for C7NN 4548 E. The model number looks to be a 3500. As long as not real loose I would use over, did that on my 4500.

If kinda OK melt a batch of chassis grease and put it in the liquid. Turn it so the air is removed, then let it harden in the grease as it cools. Wipe the outside and put it back in. Jim

I cleaned mine up real good, repacked the bearing and ordered the 12" kit from this site.

Switching to a different size requires the matching flywheel. If you have to buy that - there goes any $$ savings...

Not a ford person but could it be an industrial model or a farm model with the industrial clutch for some reason. Ford did a bunch of weird things like that. Massey also.

Gears: Yes, it is identical.

Papa, does it still spin? I pulled that grease hose off and heated the old dried grease with a propane torch and flushed it out with brake clean and compressed air. Soaked it in synthetic oil (5w20) and packed fresh grease in with a grease gun before replacing the lube hose and refilling the grease cup.
