Down rigger cylinder on backhoe was leaking, so I started to remove it.

The upper pin came out, the lower pin, refuses to move. Any thoughts? Heated around the pin and tried to use a bottle jack to push it out. 1/4 inch movement then stop.

Thanks for the help.

IF you have been pounding on it and don't use a piece of shaft the same size as the pin or very close to that the shaft/pin is probably swaged out on the end and will need to be ground off some to come out. If not try putting some diesel fuel or used engine oil on the pin and let set for a day or 2 to soak in. then with heat and your jakc it may come out. Not there so can't see it. OR try pushing it from the opposite direction after a good cleaning of the end exposed. Probably a good bit of rust and dirt in the hole around the pin.

I give a try this weekend. Thanks

Did you ever get it off? If so, what was the trick?

Welcome to the forums.

Jonesme made these two posts last October and hasn't posted again, at least using that handle, so you may not get an answer from him. It is recommended you start a new thread of your own As some folks see the date the thread started and just pass on by it.

Is you machine the same as his? Is your issue the same?

I had to cut the cylinder pin to outrigger on my TLB. I cut it in the gap on both sides of the cylinder as it was frozen in both pad ears. After getting the cylinder out of the way (the piece of pin in the cylinder was few and fell out), I had to use a torch to blow holes through the pin pieces in the outrigger pad ears and "wash" most of the pin material out, heating and penetrating oil didn't work.

Thanks for the welcome. I currently do not have this problem, but I'm considering a cylinder replacement and just looking to see options. Thank you for the input. That sounds terrible.
